Fine Art & Printmaking with award winning Lakes artist, Tracy Levine People booking onto this course will explore and experiment with a variety of techniques involving demonstrations, discussions and experimental printmaking using stencils and monoprinting techniques in Tracy’s studio, just a few minutes’ walk from Number 43 in Arnside. All Tracey’s monoprints are complete ‘one-offs’ due to the techniques used and are built up in layers of colours. First ink is rolled out onto a zinc plate using a gel roller and areas may be wiped out and lines are drawn into the ink. Sometimes the paper is laid onto the ink and pressure and marks are made onto the back of the paper to create tone and line. Then paper stencil and acetate stencils are used to block out or fill in areas of colour. As there is always an unexpected aspect to these methods, there can be surprises at any stage of printing, and you will have your own unique work – similar to that below once you’ve mastered the technique - to take home to show off to your friends and family.
