Learn a new skill with our first ever Photography Break |

Getting a new camera for Christmas? Or already got one and just want a bit of help and advice on how to get the most out of it? Then you can’t afford to miss the first of our brand new Photography Breaks. Everyone always tells us how our view is breathtaking, stunning, amazing and many more superlatives like that so where better to hold a photography break than right here at Number 43? Taking place over two days on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th of June 2012, professional photographer Mark Carr will teach you how to make the most of your camera including getting the basics right, understanding light, practical tips on shooting, and even dispelling some of the myths of amateur photography such as needing to spend a fortune on a camera. (*Here’s your first insider tip for free... three photo’s taken by Mark on a compact camera once reached the North West pro finals!) Guaranteed to be a non-geeky, non-techie approach to photography, Day 1 will be mostly theory based looking at the basics, analogies, perspectives, shutter speeds, and camera versus the eye – what it can and can’t see. But please don’t book if you’re expecting a boring, classroom-style environment. This isn’t a course for people who take themselves too seriously. Yes, you will certainly find out lots of useful and practical photographic hints and tips but you will also have a fun couple of days. Day 2 will give you the opportunity to be much more hands-on and there are lots of opportunities in and around Number 43 for taking practical examples. Estuary views, amazing sunsets, changing vistas created by the infamous Morecambe Bay sands and tides, the wealth of native wildlife such as oystercatchers and herons, or even just some good old fashioned people watching. At the end of the two days, we’re sure you will leave with some amazing snaps of that very special view, new found confidence in your abilities behind the lens, and some new friends as a lasting reminder of your stay. (Oh and most probably an aching stomach from laughing at Marks’ constant anecdotes!) The Introduction to Photography break runs from Friday 29th June to Saturday 30th June (arrival Thursday 28th June) and includes luxury 5-star bed and breakfast accommodation, dinner on the first night at Number 43 and dinner on the second night at local pub, The Albion – www.albionatarnside.co.uk, plus two full days of photography tuition with professional Lake District photographer, Mark Carr. More information about Mark Carr and further examples of his work can be found at www.markcarrphotography.com. Prices start from £400 per person (based on single occupancy). Course attendees will also receive a 50% discount on Saturday 4th February if you choose to extend your stay to three nights.
